Diesel Pollution Indicator: Residential Areas of Concern
Here we show High and Medium DPI for the residential areas suspected to be most impacted by diesel pollution.
Diesel emissions above the Aclima defined DPI criteria are not observed on residential roads in BAAEC. However, lower levels of diesel emissions are likely present in the residential community due to transport by the prevailing winds from the freeways or other sources outside of BAAEC. Average winds over the monitoring period were gentle and blew from the south and southwest, varying by time of day. Based on this, we can infer that residential areas downwind (northeast) of the major freeways may experience higher diesel pollution than areas farther away from these sources.
