Bassett Avocado Heights Community Air Quality Report
Area Overview

Wind moves pollutants in the air and impacts how well stationary measurements reflect emissions.

Wind patterns impact the extent to which stationary measurements reflect emissions not immediately upwind or downwind of the site. During the monitoring period, average winds in the Bassett Avocado Heights Advanced Energy Community (BAAEC), were from the southwest with some variability from the  south-southwest in the early afternoon, but still in the same general direction. The strongest winds were between 7-10 mph and they were most prevalent in the late morning. Calm winds (<1 mph) allow pollutant levels to increase as emissions sources continue. Mobile monitoring can capture the influence of sources in all directions that can result in elevated concentrations within a region.
