Wind moves pollutants in the air and impacts how well stationary measurements reflect emissions.
Wind patterns impact the extent to which stationary measurements reflect emissions not immediately upwind. The strongest winds in the San Bernardino, Muscoy Community during our measurement period were between 7-10 mph. They were most prevalent in the late morning, and came most often from the west-southwest. Calm winds (<1mph) allow pollutant levels to increase as emissions sources continue. Mobile monitoring can capture the influence of sources in all directions that can result in elevated concentrations within the region.
